What is Linuxabc?
Linuxabc is an educational web project created mainly for people who are discovering Linux for the first time or would like to understand it better. The goal is not to overwhelm users with technical language, but to explain Linux in a simple, clear and practical way.
The main idea behind the project
Linux is not only for programmers and computer experts. With clear explanations and some basic knowledge, it can also be used comfortably by everyday computer users.
Who is the website for?
Linuxabc is intended for beginners, home users, students and anyone interested in open source software, privacy or alternatives to proprietary operating systems and applications.
The content is organised so that users can start with the basics and gradually move on to distributions, software, installation, the terminal and other Linux topics.
What can you find on Linuxabc?
- simple explanations of concepts such as the Linux kernel, distributions and open source,
- guidance for the first steps and preparing to switch to Linux,
- an overview of distributions and help with choosing a system,
- recommendations for useful software for everyday work and creative tasks,
- links to documentation, learning resources, forums and other trusted websites,
- tips for safer and more thoughtful computer use.
The Linuxabc approach
Linuxabc focuses on learning step by step. You do not need to know every distribution, command or application on your first day. It is more useful to understand the basics, choose a suitable system, start using it and build your knowledge gradually.
The website therefore does not try to present every possible option. Instead, it focuses on information and tools that are especially useful when someone is getting started with Linux.
How did the project begin?
Linuxabc began as a study project and part of a diploma thesis. The original idea was to explore how Linux and open source software could be presented to people who had little or no previous experience with them.
The project did not end when the studies were completed. The website continues to develop and its content is still being expanded, while the main goal remains the same: to make Linux more approachable to a wider audience in a friendly and understandable way.
How is the website built?
Linuxabc is built with standard web technologies:
- HTML5 – for the structure and content of the pages,
- CSS3 – for styling and responsive presentation on different devices,
- JavaScript – for features such as the theme switch and back-to-top button,
- SEO and structured data – to help search engines understand and present the content clearly.
About the author
Linuxabc was created by Aleksander Saša Koblar. The project combines an interest in Linux, open source software and learning with the aim of making technical topics understandable even to users without a strong computer background.
